Each panel sets the district deletion rate against one characteristic. r is the linear correlation and ρ the rank correlation, and both run from −1 to 1.
All factors together
With only 38 districts these factors cannot be told apart. The poorest districts are also the least urban and least literate, and in the north-east they send the most migrants out. Read each panel as a description of the districts, not as a cause.
