All India: why names were removed
Removals per 100 electors, state by state
One tile for each state and union territory, placed roughly where it lies. The tiles are all the same size, so the map shows neither borders nor area. Grey tiles have no rate. Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Assam were not part of the revision, Tripura has no draft roll yet, and Chandigarh did not publish an exact roll from before the revision.
The rolls against the adult population
Each state's roll before the revision, and its draft roll, as a share of its projected population aged 18 and over on 1 March 2026. A roll above 100% holds more names than there are adults, which is what a roll still carrying the dead and those who have left would look like. Projections by age exist for 19 states.
Removals against the 2024 vote
Names left off each state's draft roll, as a share of the votes polled in that state in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
The three reasons, by phase
Names removed at the draft roll, by reason
Phase 1 is Bihar (2025), phase 2 the twelve states and union territories revised from November 2025, and phase 3 the eighteen revised in 2026. "Not split" counts names in states that have not published a split by reason.
Removed per 100 electors, by state
Names left off the draft roll for every 100 electors on the roll before the revision began.
The reasons, state by state
Each state's removals split by the reason entered, as a share of the removals it has split. States are ordered by the share entered as shifted, absent or other.
Women among the removed
Only some states have published their removals by sex, or their roll by sex before and after the draft. For each of them, women's share of the names removed beside women's share of the roll.
What goes with the removal rate
Each state's removals per 100 electors, and the share of its removals entered as dead or as enrolled more than once, against its characteristics. The figures are rank correlations across states: 1 means the two rise together, 0 no relationship, and anything under 0.2 either way is read as none. Each characteristic's source is shown beside it. Migration is from the 2011 census because no newer figure is published by state. Everything else is from 2019 to 2026.
Removal rate against the share of residents born in another state
Each dot is a state, coloured by phase.
After the final rolls
Each state's final roll compared with its draft. The grey bar is the names left off the draft roll for every 100 electors on the roll before the revision. The blue bar is the fall that remains once the final roll is out, after the names added and removed on claims and objections. A state appears once its final roll is published.
Every state and union territory
Figures at the draft roll. Rounded means the state published its figures in lakh or crore, Short that the reasons published leave some names unexplained, and None that no split by reason was found. The source for each row is on the method page.
Every figure on this page is computed from the published table when the page loads. Sources and method.
