Who publishes this site

This site is published by PinPoint Ventures, a development research and evaluation practice. Write to info@pinpointventures.in about anything on it.

What the figures are

Every figure here is counted from lists and tables published by the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officers of the states, or from other public sources named on each method page. The site has no connection with the Election Commission, any Chief Electoral Officer, any government or any political party.

The counts are checked against the totals printed in their sources, and each method page says what the figures can show and what they cannot. They can still contain errors. Before relying on a figure, check it against the source the method page names. Nothing here is legal advice.

Corrections and grievances

If a figure is wrong, a source is misread, or anything on the site concerns you, write to info@pinpointventures.in. We acknowledge every message within 24 hours and reply in substance within 15 days. A correction is made on the page itself, and every correction of substance is listed, with its date, on the corrections page.

The editor at PinPoint Ventures is the grievance contact for this site and handles every complaint and correction. Write to the same address.

Using what is here

Privacy

No name, EPIC number or address of any elector appears anywhere on this site. There are no accounts and no advertising, and the site sets no cookies.

The site has three forms, one for sharing a list or table with us, one for supporting the work and one for feedback and corrections. What you type in the support and feedback forms, including a name or email if you give them, goes to Netlify and is used only to write back to you and, for feedback, to correct the site. The feedback form also records which page you came from.

For the form for sharing a list or table, what you type in it and any file you attach go to Netlify, which hosts the site and keeps them for us. They are used only to read and answer your submission, the sender is not named unless they ask to be, and only counts from a list are ever published. To have a submission deleted, write to the address above.

The site counts visits without knowing who makes them. When a page opens, or a chart is shared or downloaded, or the site is installed or searched, it adds one to a tally for that day, that kind of action and that page. The count carries no device identifier, no search words and nothing that could tie it to a person. The tallies are held at Supabase in Mumbai. Like any server, Supabase receives the ordinary request, which carries your IP address, and the site does not store that address. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, nothing is counted at all.

Your browser keeps four small settings on your own device. They are the language, the colour theme, the reading font and a note that you have seen the front page's tour. If you install the site or come back to it, the browser also keeps copies of the pages you have read, so that they open without a connection. None of this is sent anywhere. Clearing the site's data in your browser removes it.

Some files come from other services, which receive the ordinary request any web page makes, your IP address included, under their own policies. The pages are served by Netlify, the charts' library by cdnjs (Cloudflare), and the fonts for Indian languages by Google Fonts. Sharing on WhatsApp opens WhatsApp, and what happens there is governed by WhatsApp.
