The border belts
Deletions per 100 electors, by border
Constituencies grouped by the border they touch. Seats on two borders form their own group.
Share of all removals
Each group's share of Bihar's removals beside its share of the electorate. Where the first bar is longer, the group lost more names than its size would suggest.
Who was removed
Women's share of removals, and the range for the Muslim-name share. The low end leaves out unclassified names and the high end counts all of them as Muslim.
Phase 2 against phase 1
Phase 2 removals as a share of phase 1. A higher share means more names came off after the draft roll.

The Nepal and Bengal belts, and Seemanchal within them, also send the most migrants out of Bihar, seasonally and for good, and a migrant who has moved away is rightly marked "shifted". A higher rate on the border fits that explanation as well as any other. The data record that a name was removed, and nothing about why.
A constituency counts as a border seat when its district touches Nepal, West Bengal, Jharkhand or Uttar Pradesh. Muslim-name shares come from the name classification in the booth files. The low figure counts only names classified Muslim, and the high figure adds every name left unclassified.
