Karnataka 2026
Figures as of 9 October 2026, a roll published after claims had closed, while notices were being heard. The final roll is due on 27 October 2026.
Method
What is counted
Names left off the draft roll
The Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka, published the draft roll on 24 August 2026 with a table of the names left off it, by election district and under five reasons, which are absent, permanently shifted, dead, already enrolled and other. The 34 district rows add up to the state row, names out of , and in every district the names removed and the enumeration forms digitised add up to the roll of 16 June 2026. An enumeration form is the form each elector on the roll had to return to stay on it.
Why districts and not constituencies
The Chief Electoral Officer published every table of the revision by its 34 election districts and for the state, and none by assembly constituency. Bengaluru appears as four of those districts, which are Bangalore Urban and the North, Central and South districts of the city corporation, B.B.M.P. A count by constituency could be made only by tallying the named lists, which this site does not do in Karnataka.
The roll after the draft
The final roll is due on 27 October 2026. Until then the latest figures are the roll of 9 October 2026, by district and sex, published after claims and objections had closed and while notices were still being heard. The rise from the draft to that roll is the names added less those removed since, so it counts new voters as well as names put back, and it is the most that could have been restored.
Women and men
The draft roll and the roll of 9 October are published by sex. The roll of 16 June is published as a total only, and the names removed are not split by sex, so the share of women among those removed cannot be counted from the Chief Electoral Officer's tables.
The map
The Chief Electoral Officer's 34 election districts are not the state's revenue districts, so no district map draws them. The map joins the constituency boundaries of DataMeet's assembly constituency map (CC BY 2.5 India) by the district each constituency belongs to in the Election Commission's own list of constituencies by district. Bengaluru's three B.B.M.P districts are drawn that way, and Harapanahalli sits in Vijayanagara.
Checks
The build fails unless all three tables have the same 34 districts, each district's reasons add up to its removals, each district's draft roll equals its roll before less its removals, men, women and third gender add up, and the state totals equal the figures in the Chief Electoral Officer's press notes.
What these tables cannot show
- Which constituencies lost the most names, or how the removals compare with the margins of the 2023 election.
- Whether women, the old or the young were removed more often.
- Whether each removal was right. A reason on the list is what the officer wrote down, and nobody checked it.
