Elections

This page is in English only for now. Every figure on it comes from the Election Commission or the Chief Electoral Officer, and where it reached us through the press, the page says so.

The names left off are from the tables of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), who keeps Gujarat's rolls for the Election Commission, as they were published in the press. The 2022 result is from the Election Commission's own statistical report. Sources and method says where each one comes from.

Names left off against the winning margin

The winning margin is the winner's votes less the runner-up's. Each dot is a constituency. Its place across is the margin its winner won by in December 2022, and its height is the names left off its draft roll in December 2025. Above the dashed line, more names were left off than the margin. The election came three years before the revision, so this measures how large the removals are against the votes that decide a seat. Nobody can know how anyone left off would have voted. Hover or tap a dot for its name.

How many seats, on each count

Four ways of setting the names left off against the margin, from the widest to the narrowest. The first counts every name left off the draft. The second leaves out the names entered as dead. The third also leaves out the names entered as already enrolled at another place, because those electors can still vote where they are enrolled. The fourth takes the names not entered as dead and counts only the share that would have voted, at each seat's own 2022 turnout, the share of its electors who voted.

    The closest seats

The twenty constituencies with the smallest margins in 2022. For each, one dot is the margin and the other is the names left off its draft roll in 2025.

The names left off by the party that won

Each dot is a constituency, placed by the names left off for every 100 electors and grouped by the party that won it in 2022. Seats in Ahmedabad and Surat districts are in red. Hover or tap a dot for its name.

The same seats as a table. The column against the district sets each seat's rate against the rate of its own district and averages the difference, so that a party's figure does not just measure where its seats are. A minus means fewer names left off than in the district as a whole.
